‘The Information Badger’ was founded by Dr. Steve Tyler following an extensive 35-year career working in the Information Technology (IT) services industry. Steve originally graduated from the UK’s Imperial College of Science & Technology, University of London, with a First Class Honours in Metallurgy. He subsequently gained a PhD in Radiation Damage effects in Nuclear Materials from the University of Surrey before joining the IT industry after a short period of post-doctoral research and lecturing.  He is a Member of the Institute of Physics and a Chartered Physicist.

Steve amassed a wealth of  IT delivery and business leadership experience through a career that started with programming and technical work, and ultimately moved through to company level delivery leadership and general management. Steve led major UK and international, multi-site, multi-tens of millions of pounds fixed-price systems integration and service contracts across a wide range of market sectors,  and served for more than twelve years as the delivery lead on the UK executive leadership team of a major UK and European IT services company.  He subsequently moved into a corporate delivery risk assurance when the company was acquired.

Steve’s experience is both extensive, especially regarding all matters ‘delivery’, and wide-ranging. Some of his additional remits have included delivery and technical community leadership, risk management and delivery assurance, business continuity, internal IT, security, systems safety, and quality. He has supported due diligence associated with merger & acquisition activity, and led business readiness for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Steve has always been passionate about encouraging, educating and developing others.  He has been a mentor for many years, and believes strongly in a “Simple knowledge; simply conveyed” ethos for knowledge transfer. He believes in life-long learning and the benefit to society of passing on knowledge gained from experience. The Information Badger was founded as part of realising this passion.
